Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR, was born on 3 August 1963 in Orogun, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. He hails from the Orogun clan of the Urhobo ethnic group. His father, Justice James Omo-Agege, served as Chief Justice of Delta State.
He attended St. George’s Grammar School, Obinomba, and graduated with an LL.B from the University of Benin in 1985. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986 and later earned an LL.M from Tulane University Law School, New Orleans, in 2002. He practised law in Nigeria and the United States, including admission to the California State Bar.
In public service, he served as Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State, Commissioner for Special Duties, and Secretary to the State Government. He was elected Senator for Delta Central in 2015 and re-elected in 2019. From 11 June 2019 to 11 June 2023 he served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate — the first senator from Delta State to hold the position.
In May 2026 he joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), declaring his intention to contest the Delta Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections under the NDC platform.
